Once again, parts of Appalachia are experiencing the devastating effects of flooding, with reports emerging regarding the flood that occurred on February 16th. A tumultuous combination of winter temperatures and rising rainfall has inundated areas of West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky, leaving communities grappling with the aftermath and in need of significant rebuilding and repair efforts. Similar to their neighbors in Western North Carolina, residents are urgently seeking assistance as they confront the loss of nearly all their possessions.
Among those affected is singer-songwriter James Flinchum, known professionally as SilverCreek. Residing in Beattyville, Kentucky, within Lee County, SilverCreek has lamented that the flood has “taken everything but my guitar,” leaving him uncertain about his next steps.
In 2024, Flinchum traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, to perform at Antonio’s Pizzeria and Steamworks Creative as part of the ScarFire Radio events. We fondly recall his time with us and consider him a valued member of the ScarFire Media Family. Our team at ScarFire Media LLC is committed to supporting our friend in his time of need as he navigates this devastating situation. Thanks to the efforts of FirePitt host Jim Skiff, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to provide financial assistance for his recovery. To contribute, please follow this link:
